Karter is here!

Thursday morning we called the hospital at 5:00 a.m. to see what time we needed to be there. The nurse said for us to come in as soon as we could get there. Cecil and I got to the hospital a little after 5:30. As soon as we got there, the nurse started all the paper work, my iv, hooked me up to monitors, etc. Around 8:00 my doctor got there and broke my water. He said I was dilated to a 3 but Karter was still really high. The nurse was looking at the monitors and asked me if I felt that big contraction. I told her I didn't feel anything. Around 10:00 or so I was starting to feel the contractions but it wasn't anything that I couldn't stand. Not long after that, I got my epidural. It worked wonderful. Around 11:00 the nurse said she thought we would have a baby in an hour or two. Karter was still really high so all morning they had me alternating laying on my sides and sitting straight up.

My mom brought Keagan to the hospital around 2:00 or so. He had to get up in the bed with me. A little before 3:00 the nurse came in and said Dr. Killeen was ready for me to start pushing. She got me ready and then was getting everything else ready for me to start. We were talking about how doctors get all the credit of delivering the baby when a lot of times they just come in and "catch them". She had her back to me and I was laughing when she turned around and she said, "Oh my. Don't laugh or push." She went to the hall and told the other nurses to call Dr. Killeen NOW. She also got all the other nurses in there because she said I was ready. It took the doctor just a few minutes to get there, but the nurse had to hold Karter in while we waited. After he got there, I pushed two times and Karter was here at 3:15! He weighed 8 lbs. and 14 oz. and was 21 1/2 inches long. His delivery was much easier than Keagan's.

When the doctor put him up on my stomach, I looked at him and thought he looks just like Keagan did.

Keagan was the first one to hold him once everybody got to come in the room. He held him for a lot longer than I thought he would. After he held him I asked him if we were gonna keep him. Keagan looked at me and said, "What else would we do with him?" It was so cute.

Our first family of four picture.

Admiring his brother.

Proud of his new shirt!

When my mom brought Keagan to the hospital on Friday the only thing he wanted to do was go to the cafeteria and eat. He didn't even really know what a cafeteria was besides a place to eat, but he wanted to go there. There is a park across the street from the hospital so my mom and Keagan went back and forth several times on Friday to play and feed the ducks. On Saturday he brought some ice cream back to the room for dessert after going to the cafeteria again.

On the way home.

Our two sweet boys
Keagan loves Karter. He just doesn't understand why he can't touch his head. We have told him he can touch his cheeks and kiss him, but he can't touch his head. Karter is a good baby too. He had his days and nights mixed up but he is getting adjusted. We are so glad for him to finally be here and thankful he is healthy!
