6 weeks old

On Thursday, Karter turned six weeks old. I can't believe how fast time is going by. I have read some other blogs where they write about what their child is doing each month. I am going to attempt to do this. I did a horrible job filling in Keagan's baby book, so maybe this will help some with Karter's. I intended to start this when he turned a month old and never did it. Here are some things he is doing (mainly for me)
-looks just like Keagan did when he was a baby
-eats about every 3 hours, sometimes he goes longer and sometimes it is only 2
1/2 hours
-at night he eats about every 4 hours
-wears size 1 diapers
-wears 0-3 month clothes and some newborn things
-not sure how much he weighs but I am guessing about 11 pounds
-some days he sleeps really well, others not so much, loves to snuggle
-can hold his head up really well, he has done this since the day he was born
-loves his swing, likes the bouncy seat ok
-smiled on Mother's Day for the first time, since then he does it randomly
-his colic seems to be getting a little better, even though it is only at night that he
screams (usually 7:00-10:00) it wears me out, I have tried everything people have
recommended, I am very thankful for Mylicon and Gripe Water

A few of the teachers went together and got us a gift certificate to a portrait studio. I was planning to get Karter's pictures made anyways, so it worked out great. I took him on Thursday. His appointment was at 11:00. He wasn't suppose to eat until about 12:00. I had to wake him up to change his clothes so they could get started on his pictures. He was very fussy until he ate. Then he did fine. The photographer was very patient. I don't think he realized that Karter was not going to smile each time he took a picture. The pictures turned out good and I had a hard time deciding which ones to buy. I wanted them all.

this one was my favorite
sorry this is sideways, I couldn't get turned because of the way it is saved on the cd from the studio but I wanted to post a full body picture

he looks so much like Keagan

This is what he thought about getting his pictures made!

School Shower

Last Wednesday the teachers I teach with had a shower for me after school. They waited to have my shower after I had Karter so I could bring him up there for everyone to see. I only took 4 pictures during the shower. I guess I was too busy talking. Thankfully Mrs. Perkins was on top of things and took more with her camera.

I bet you can guess what they are looking at!

They were going to do a diaper shower for me too since I had all of Keagan's things but after the shower at church I told them we didn't need any diapers. Most of the teachers gave us gift cards which is great! A few of them went together and got us a gift certificate to Portrait Innovations so I am taking Karter tomorrow to get his pictures made. Can you believe he will be six weeks old tomorrow? I can't. Time is going by so fast.

Keagan is 4!

On Saturday Keagan turned 4. I can't believe he is already 4 years old. In the fall he will be going to Pre-K since I am a teacher. Another thing I can't believe-he is starting school. He seems to be really excited. He keeps telling me that the next year he wants to be in my class when he is in kindergarten and I keep telling him NO WAY! He is such a smart boy and we don't know what we would do without him. Other than adjusting to Karter coming into this world, he is usually very good. Keagan loves to spend every minute he can being at the barn, riding the tractors, or playing outside. Just today Cecil and him came home for lunch. I asked him what he had been doing. He told me he had been working on his forklift. I asked him what was wrong and he told me the motor wouldn't run. Cecil asked him how he fixed it and he said he took off all the nuts and bolts and put on new ones. He is so crazy.

On Saturday we had his birthday party at Ready Set Go where he goes to gymnastics. I didn't get many pictures of the kids playing.

I think it is impossible to get a good picture of 14 kids!

He had a Thomas the Train party. When we were going to order his cake I told him to pick a few of his trains he wanted on his cake. He picked out about 15. I told him that was too many to fit. He narrowed it down to 6 and they were able to get them all on the cake.

opening presents

I told family members he didn't need anymore tractors. I think he has about 100. Potsey (Cecil's dad) saw this set at the John Deere House and thought he needed it because he didn't have that kind of plow. Grandparents just don't listen!
On Friday we took Keagan to get his pictures made. I told him if he did a good job we would get a pretzel when we were done. He did a very good job and the photographer was good too. Here are a few of my favorites.
He looks so grown up.

This is my absolute favorite. He was suppose to be standing with his thumbs in his pockets. The photographer asked him how old he was and said four and showed him with his hand. The photographer was able to snap a picture with him holding his hand up.

looks so big here
Saturday morning Keagan woke up and got sick. I was really hoping he wouldn't be sick for his party. After getting sick just that one time he was fine. After he opened his presents at the party he started acting like he was feeling bad again. We came home and he rode his tractor and 4-wheeler and he acted fine. That night before he went to bed he got sick again. Sunday morning he woke up with fever. He got sick several times throughout the day. He had a doctor's appointment Monday morning for his 4 year check-up. I knew he wouldn't be able to get his shots but we went ahead and went. His doctor said there was some kind of bug going around. We go back a week from Friday so he can get his shots. They weighed and measured him on Monday but I don't know what the measurements were.
