A Busy Weekend

Friday night we went and rode Polar Express like we did last year. Cecil was not able to go last year because they were still stripping cotton. They got done this year so he was able to go. My mom also went with us. Keagan asked her when we first got our tickets if she would go with us incase his daddy couldn't go.

finally made it and Santa joined us

I guess I didn't take a picture of Keagan with his hot chocolate and cookie.

This is what Cecil thought of the train ride! Not really although it is not nearly as enjoyable for the adults as it is for the kids. He was sitting across the aisle from Keagan, my mom, and I so he did have some peace and quiet!
Saturday we went to the Catholic church in Idalou and had breakfast with Santa. When we walked in the building, Keagan ran up to Santa and hugged him. I wish I would have had my camera out. He has never been scared of Santa, but has never run up to one before like he did on Saturday.

eating his pancakes and orange juice
Saturday night we had Christmas with Cecil's parents and siblings. I forgot to take my camera. On Sunday we had Christmas with Cecil's grandparents. Again I forgot my camera.
Monday Cecil had surgery on his left foot and had a scope done on his right knee. He had some cartilage damage on his knee they were able to fix. The doctor did reconstructive foot surgery on his left foot. Cecil didn't have an arch in his foot and his toes would curl under and not relax because of his head injury when he was in elementary. The doctor put 5 screws in his foot and cut and stretched the tendons in it. His foot should not turn inward anymore and his toes will not curl under. He will still have wear his brace, but hopefully will not be in constant pain like he was. We got home Tuesday afternoon and he is doing pretty good. The muscles in his left thigh and groin area will not relax and none of his regular medicine he takes for that is helping. We have called the doctor and hoping he will call in something else. He goes back to the doctor on Dec. 31st for them to take the splint off and put on a cast. He is not allowed to put any weight on his foot for 6 weeks. After six weeks he will get a walking boot. I am not sure how long he will be in that.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
(I am sorry everything runs together. When I type, it is in paragraphs, but when I post it, it all runs together. It drives me crazy, but I don't know how to fix it)

Introducing......

Karter
Cecil says this picture makes him think of an African child you see on commercials about starving children.
Karter does not have a middle name yet. Cecil and I cannot agree on one. I like Ryan, but Cecil says he doesn't like that. Cecil's sister, my mom, and one of my aunts all suggested Ryan without me saying that I liked it. I know we still have time to decide, but we had no trouble at all coming up with Keagan's name. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
This is the best picture they could get of him on Tuesday. He kept putting his arm over his face. The lady did get a good look at his face once, but by the time she switched to the 3-d he had moved. He was moving all over the place and she had a very hard time getting all the measurements that she needed. She did say there is no doubt he is a boy!
They told us he weighs about 1 lb. 12 oz. which is in the 79th percentile. My doctor started talking about how he might be a big baby. I think, being the professional that I am, Karter has just caught up from my first sonogram. When the doctor measured him to get my due date, he measured about 10-12 days smaller than what I thought my due date would be. I think maybe he has just caught up and my due date is closer to the first of April instead of the 12th. Who knows? They still could not get a good look at his heart because he was moving all over the place. The doctor said he can tell there are 4 chambers and doesn't think anything is wrong, but I go back in four weeks for them to try again to get a better look.

Keagan and Landrie

When Keagan started going to his babysitter 2 1/2 years ago there was a little girl named Audrey that he became best buds with. Audrey is just 5 days younger than Keagan. Cheryl (his babysitter) would always say they were just like twins. Audrey's mom had a baby in June and decided to stay at home with her kids so Audrey doesn't go to Cherly's anymore. When school started this year a new little girl, Landrie, started staying at Cheryl's. Her mom teaches at the same school as me. Landrie is from December to May older than Keagan. They instantly hit it off and have become great friends.

On Thursday, the kids in my class made gingerbread houses. I was going to let Keagan make one after school and asked him if he wanted Landrie to make one with him. Of course his answer was yes. Keagan made a house last year but didn't seem to enjoy it near as much as he did this year.

Landrie got some icing on her shirt and Keagan was trying to help her get it off.

busy decorating

The finished houses!
After they finished and I got everything cleaned up, we took Landrie to her mom's room. Landrie told Keagan bye and gave him a hug. We went back to my room to get our stuff so we could leave. Keagan said he wanted to go tell Landrie bye. I told him he already told her bye and she gave him a hug. He then told me, "But I need to give her a kiss." It was so cute.
Baby update: I go to the doctor on Tuesday. I am really hoping they do the 3-d sonogram this time since they didn't do it last time. I will post pictures sometime next week if they do.

We are having a ....

BOY!!!
We went to the doctor yesterday morning and found out we are having another boy. Keagan was playing with one of his books and I asked him if he heard what the lady said. I told him he was getting a brother and he said, "But I want a sister."
We don't have any names picked out yet. Cecil and I both "knew" it was a girl so we have not discussed names because we had a girls name picked out from when we had Keagan. Hopefully we can decide on one soon.
The doctor did lots of measurements and said everything looked really good. I didn't have the 3-d sonogram done yesterday. I go back to the same doctor next month so the baby's heart will be bigger and they can get a better look at it and hope they will do the 3-d then.

It's a ........

well we still don't know. The baby was breech and the doctor could not tell. I have to call this afternoon and find out when they have scheduled me an appointment to have a 3-d sonogram. We are hoping it will be later this week or early next week.

Keagan did ask some funny comments and questions today: I was in the shower and he informed me before we went to the doctor we needed to go buy a carseat, diaper bag, diapers, and wipes. I told him we would buy those things but we didn't need to get them today because it is still a long time before the baby gets here. "How will the baby come out when it is big enough?" He has asked this before and Cecil tells him it comes out of my belly button. We were driving to get one of my tires fixed before going to the doctor this morning and he asked, "Is the baby eating food like you?" I told him the baby just gets part of the food that I eat. His reply was, "I guess you chew part of it and then the baby chews part of it."

He is too smart about somethings. Some questions he asks I really don't know how to answer him.

I will let you know when we find out what the baby is!

Better late than never!

I am finally getting around to posting Halloween pictures even though it has been two weeks. Last year Keagan was looking at a magazine I had gotten in the mail with costumes in it. He saw a UPS costume and said that was what he wanted to be. I told him I had already ordered his costume but maybe next year he could be that. Well the magazine came and the costume was still in there and he had not forgotten that was what he wanted to be. I am not sure why he wanted to be this. We do not know anyone who works for UPS. He has recognized the "brown truck" forever. Since it was what he wanted to be I ordered the costume for him.

Halloween week was busy for us. Keagan has been going to gymnastics since the summer. On Monday night everyone got to wear thier costumes to Ready Set Go.

ready to go in

jumping on the trampoline

The kids in each class were given an award. He was "accepting" his award here.

Keagan got the award for "awesome Halloween Handstands".
On Tuesday night I had a fall carnival at school. Keagan had a lot of fun playing the games and just playing in my room with his friend Landry who stays at the same babysitter as he does.
Friends Maryn and Jensyn

Keagan loved to play with the ducks. After the carnival, he and Landry were playing with the duck pond while I was cleaning up other things and they had water every where.

On Friday night my mom, Cecil, and I took Keagan to the Science Spectrum. We took him last year but it was so crowded we didn't even try to find a place to park. This year we got there right when it started. Keagan had a good time, but was more interested in playing with the regular Science Spectrum stuff than doing the games.

Baby update:
I am already about 19 weeks along. I can't believe I am almost half way done. We go to the doctor on Monday and will find out if it is a boy or girl as long as the baby cooperates. I am feeling pretty good other than just being tired. I am glad to be past the nasuea. I will post again on Monday and let you know what we are having.

Corn Maze

Last Sunday afternoon our Sunday school class went to the Corn Maze. It is a field they plant corn in and then cut out a maze you walk through. This year the maze is the shape of Raider Red. Cecil, Keagan, and I didn't go through the maze because we weren't able to stay very long because of other plans. They had other things to do there that I knew Keagan would enjoy much more. When I taught first grade we took our kids and walked the the maze and I always left with a headache. The corn would bother my allergies so I was not too sad we didn't do the maze.

I couldn't get him to look at me because of the sun.

Walking throught the mini maze of hay bales.

This was Hannah the pig. She weighs 450 pounds. Keagan liked her tail. They also had some goats, sheep, a donkey, and chickens.

rode again with Wyatt, Kegan and Cecil-who almost did not get out!

Wyatt's cousin (I can't remember his name) is the goat, Wyatt, Madi, Lilly, and Keagan as the pig

going to find his pumpkin

Keagan kept wanting to pick the pumpkins that were still on the vine. We kept telling him those were not ready to be picked. There were some that were still green and he said he wanted to get one of those "watermelons"!

He picked a "baby" pumpkin for him and the baby, mine was still pretty green and then the bigger one was Cecil's.
They also had a corn cannon you could shoot ears of corn at hay bales that had the Big 12 teams on them. Keagan and Cecil wanted to do that but the line was too long and we had to leave to get to Cecil's parents house. Cecil really wanted to hit the Longhorn and OU bales. We were really surprised the OU bale had more corn around it than the UT bale. I think it was because the UT bale was farther away. We all had a really good time and hopefully we can go back next year when we have a little more time.

Chuck E. Cheese and baby update

Last week we went to Chuck E. Cheese for our nephew's birthday party. Bryce turned 4. I guess Cecil and I are bad parents because we had never taken Keagan to Chuck E. Cheese. He has been to Mr. Gatti's though. He had a lot of fun playing the games and riding the rides.

the birthday boy

This monster truck was his favorite thing in the whole place.

I thought Keagan would love to crawl through the maze and go down the slide but he wouldn't go through the maze. I finally got him to go down the slide.

He thought it was funny to make the jet ski crash.

He did really well at this game.

He didn't do so well at this!

He enjoyed riding the rides more than playing the games. I lost track of how many times he rode this and the monster truck.
Baby Update:
I went to the doctor yesterday. He said the baby was growing really well. "It" was moving all over the place. I go back on Nov. 16th and he said hopefully he will be able to tell us what it is then. I also talked to him about getting the H1N1 shot. I am not convinced they have had enough time to do enough research to make sure it is safe. He told me not to worry about it right now because they don't have any of the shots yet and are not sure when they will get them. He said since I am a teacher I have already been exposed to it and the best way to prevent it is washing hands, eating right, and getting plenty of rest. I am trying to be really careful around my kids at school. So far I have only had one child with the flu. I am constantly washing my hands and wiping down my tables. Hopefully I can stay healthy.

Keagan's News

Keagan wanted to let everyone know.........

There's a Bun in the Oven!!!
Keagan is going to be a big brother!
I bought him a shirt today to wear for this picture but when I unrolled it, the shirt said "Little Brother". I am going to have to take it back and exchange it.

Cecil and I are very excited. We are hoping for a girl this time, but as long as the baby is healthy that is all that matters. I thought I would be 12 weeks on Thursday, making my due date March 29th. When I went to the doctor and he measured the baby he said I am 10 weeks and 4 days so my due date is April 12th. I guess when I go back next month we will see what he says then.
I had to get a new doctor to deliver this baby. My doctor that delivered Keagan no longer delivers babies, which made me really sad because I absolutely loved her.
Overall I have been feeling pretty good-just extremely tired especially since school started. I have not had "morning sickness" but I have had "night sickness." When I was pregnant with Keagan I never threw up just didn't feel well in the morning. When it comes to eating supper I feel like I am hungry and ready to eat but once we start eating I usually start feeling nauseous. I usually end up not eating much for supper. With Keagan I had a very hard time brushing my teeth without gagging and I am already having the same problem again. I have to eat breakfast before I brush my teeth or I loose it.
When we told Keagan I was going to have a baby and it was in my tummy he wanted to know how it got there. We told him God put it there. We explained that he was inside my tummy too until he was big enough to come out. He started asking if he had legs, arms, etc. when he was in my tummy. It was really cute.
We will keep everyone posted as the pregnancy progresses.

Primetime and Jump Around

I cannot believe it has been a month since I have posted anything. My summer has gone by way too fast. I can't believe I go back to school two weeks from tomorrow and then have kids the next Monday.

On Friday we went to Abilene for a family reunion on Saturday as well as a cousin's birthday party. Friday night we went to Primetime so Keagan could show us how he could drive the go-carts. A couple of weeks ago, he went home with my mom and stayed with her and my dad from Thursday thru Monday. This was his first time away from us. When he was there, Keagan and his cousin Kadin drove go-carts one night so we had to go back so we could see him. He is just barely tall enough to reach the pedal but can drive really well.

taking off

Keagan is about to lap the little boy that was driving the same time as him. Keagan drives really well because of the practice he has had from his tractor and 4-wheeler. He did bump into the little boy a few times but nothing major.

After Keagan drove the smaller go-carts it was time to ride the big ones with dad and grandpa. The first time they rode Keagan rode with Cecil. Then they rode again and he rode with grandpa. Keagan's favorite part was him and grandpa spinning out Cecil. He had a lot of fun.

After riding the big ones he went back and drove the small ones again. This time he was the only one out there.
Keagan is staying the week again with my mom and dad and I am quite sure they will go back to Primetime and ride again.
On Saturday we had a family reunion for my mom's side of the family. Then we left for a little while and went to cousin Kadin's birthday party at The Jump Around. It is a place with inflatable jumpers like where Keagan had his party. Keagan was having a really good time until one of the bouncers didn't have enough air and the part he was climbing on sort of collapsed and he got stuck. Thanks to cousin Brandon for rescuing him. About 5 minutes later cousin Johnathon got stuck too. The lady came and checked the bouncer and figured out what was wrong and got it fixed, but Keagan would not go back in there.
