Gingerbread House

Last week the kids in my class made gingerbread houses. Keagan came to my room after school and got to make one too. I thought he would have a lot of fun, but he was more interested in playing in my room and in the teacher's room across the hall. He did a little of the decorating and I did the rest.

Spreading the icing.

Putting one some candy.

Adding some M & M's.

Candy canes for the door.

The house!

Saturday at the Science Spectrum

Last Saturday, my mom and I took Keagan to the Science Spectrum. They were having special Christmas activities. They had a petting zoo, he got to sit with Santa (which he did great), make snow, paint a picture with salt water, and decorate a gingerbread cookie. Of course he also had to play after he did those activities. After we left the Science Spectrum and ran some other errands, we went to my aunt and uncle's house. They were trying to get thier outside Christmas decorations put up. Keagan had alot of fun helping Joe rake their leaves.

Christmas Tree

When Keagan and I were driving home from Thanksgiving in Abilene he kept telling me he wanted to "hang up" the Christmas tree. I didn't have school on the Monday after Thanksgiving, so we put up our tree and decorations. Keagan did really good with helping me sort the branches and then would bring me the color that I needed.

Such a big helper.

Trying to stick a branch in.

He kept trying, but told me he couldn't reach.

Putting on a decoration. (He has on clothes now because we had to take a break and go and get Cecil and his dad from the field.)

Hanging on another decoration.
Keagan LOVES Christmas lights this year. We drove him around the other night and he loved looking at them.
Tomorrow or Friday I am going to try and put up some pictures of Keagan at the Science Spectrum last week.

Turkey Cupcakes

Monday night Keagan helped me make cupcakes. My kids at school were going to make a turkey out of the cupcake for a Thanksgiving treat, so I decided to make some extra cupcakes so Keagan could make some to take to the babysitter. He loves to help me cook anything, so he had a good time helping me.

Mixing the batter.

Pouring the batter into the cups.
Sitting on the bar icing the cupcakes.

Sticking in the cookie for the turkey's head.

Adding the feathers.

So proud of his turkey.
I did the eyes and the wattle to save a big mess.
We hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.

Our Afternoon and Evenings

Cecil and his dad started harvesting maize about 2 weeks ago. About half of their cotton got hailed out, so they replanted maize. Their maize isn't ready to be harvested, so they have been cutting some other farmer's maize. Here is how Keagan and I spend our afternoon and evening: Around 4:30 I pick Keagan up from the babysitter. Then I take him to the field to ride with Cecil. I go home and make supper for Cecil. (If you have any suggestions of things I can make him I would love them. I can only take him sandwich type things, because he keeps harvesting while he eats). After I get supper made, I take it back to the field and get Keagan. We go home and have supper. Then it is time for me to give him a shower and get him ready for bed. Then we do the same thing again when I pick him up the next day.

Potsey's combine.

Climbing up. He can go up and down the steps all by himself. He is not real confident coming down, but has no trouble going up.

Almost made it!

Standing by "his" seat.

Sitting by dad, ready to ride.

My two boys.
One day when I picked Keagan up, he told me he wanted me to ride with him. After we got on and Cecil started going, Keagan kept telling me I needed to go back to the car because he didn't have a seat. He didn't like that I was sitting in his chair and he had to sit in my lap.
I have to brag about my little boy. He can recognize his first letter-"P". If I wear a t-shirt that has letters on it, he will point to each one and ask me what they are. He has picked up the letter "p" from me doing that. He can recognize it on various things-shirts, Apple Jack box, etc. Ok, I know enough bragging. I guess it is the teacher in me that makes me excited. Now we will have to work on his name.

Trick or Treating-Finally

I am just now getting around to posting some pictures of Keagan trick or treating. I thought I had taken more pictures than I did. We had planned to take Keagan to the Science Spectrum to the carnival they were having, but after we pulled in the parking lot, we quickly changed our minds. There were a ton of people there, and I wasn't sure how much Keagan would be able to do, so we just went back on Saturday morning for him to play. Here are a few of the pictures I took:

Getting ready to go in Aunt Sherri and Unlce Randy's house.

Looking at the treat from Grandma and PaPa.

Telling Grandma thanks.

Standing by the scarecrow at Aunt Melissia and Unlce Joe's.

Not wanting to say cheese.

Much happier without his ears and trunk on.

I plan to post some pictures later this week of how our day goes after I pick Keagan up from the babysitter.

Fall Carnival

Tuesday night we had our fall carnival at school. Keagan had a lot of fun. He wore his costume for about 45 minutes. This is a big improvement from last year. He didn't like wearing the ears and trunk on his head. When we took those off, he was fine.

Playing in my room.

Doing the cake walk. He tried this and the pie walk several times but never won. He really wanted a pie ( I really don't know why). He did win at the cookie walk.

Decorating a cookie.

Going fishing. He wasn't sure about it the first time. He didn't want to hold the pole. After he finally held it, he didn't want to let go. We went back and did this 3 or 4 times.

Doing the duck pond. This was after he had had enough of his costume.

There was also a "kid friendly" spook house. I didn't think he would like it, but he did. We walked through it 3 or 4 times too. I am hoping he will leave his costume on better tomorrow night when we go trick or treating. I will post pictures from tomorrow night in a few days.

An Artist in the Making

One night at church Keagan painted in the nursery. He really enjoyed it and kept asking me to get him some paints. I told him we would get him some when we went to the store. Last weekend when we were in Abilene, we went to Target and I got him some. Monday when we got home from school the first thing he wanted to do was paint. He did better than some of my kids at school with not mixing the colors together.

Getting his paintbrush wet.

Choosing a color.

Working so hard.

He said his paintbrush looked like a spider.

The finished work. When we painted his name he told me what color he wanted to use for each letter. When it came to my name and Cecil's name, he just wanted one color.

Weekend in Abilene

Saturday morning we took Keagan to the zoo. The weather was perfect. It never got hot the whole time we were there.

Checking out the monkeys.

Feeding the giraffe.

sitting with Aunt Heather and Uncle Joey

looking at the ducks and flamingos with Johnathon

very hard to get two 2-year olds to look at the camera at the same time

Keagan fell and skinned his head at the zoo. I tried getting a picture of it, but I couldn't get it to turn out with or without the flash on.

Going for a ride at the mall. He is bare footed because we were there looking for him some new shoes. He had been trying on shoes and I was tired of putting his shoes back on-it was a hassel because they were too small.

The Circus

Last week we took Keagan to the circus. I was very disappointed-it was not good. Keagan enjoyed it, so I guess that is all that matters. He was upset that there were no tigers. We only stayed for the first half so we could make it to church for the last night of our revival. The second half may have been better.

You gotta have cotton candy at the circus. Keagan did not like it.

Riding on the pony.

Keagan loved the dogs. I think they were his favorite.

He liked the elephant too. I tried to get him to ride it, but he didn't want to until it was time for us to go.

Trying to get a picture of my boys.

Cecil had to hold his hands back.
