The Weekend

My mom turned 50 on Saturday. We went to Abilene and had a surprise party for her. On our way home on Sunday, we stopped in Snyder for a family reunion.

Rockwall

We got Keagan a swing set for his birthday. We had gotten a catalog to look at to decide which one to get him. He would look at it with us talk about the things each one had. He really liked the rockwalls. He had never climbed on one, but that was what he was most excited about. When he first got it, he tried a few times to climb it but he couldn't. I guess he lost interest in it, because he couldn't do it. A few days ago I was making supper and I had looked out the window and saw him trying to climb it, but he didn't make it very far. Last night we were outside and I told him to try again. I stood behind him and he made it all the way up on his own. He went down the slide and then climbed up again. He went up the rockwall about 15 times last night. Once or twice he started to slip, but I told him to keep going and he did and then would make it to the top. Now if we can get him to like to swing.

Getting started.

Going up...

Outside

Keagan loves to be outside. He would be out there 24/7 if I would let him. Here are some pictures of the things he does when he outside.

Checking out the water.

Splish splash!

Wee!!!

He said he needed a drink of water.

He loves to ride his tractor around the yard. He will tell me that he is mowing the grass or plowing. He also loves to ride it out the the barn and help his dad and Potsey (what HE calls Cecil's dad, the other grandkids call him Pop) work.

Loves playing in the sandbox.

He likes to climb up and down the stairs. He also likes to get up there and sit and watch Cecil and Potsey working at the barn.

Another weekend in Abilene

Keagan and I went to Abilene this past weekend for a friend's wedding. (Congratulations Amy and Brad! The wedding was beautiful.) Saturday morning we took Keagan to the zoo. We do not have a zoo in Lubbock so he was very excited. Two of his favorite books right now are Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? In the Polar Bear book, there is a zookeeper. Keagan was excited to be able to see a zookeeper taking care of the animals. I think he talked more about the zookeeper than the animals.

Ready to go.

After running across the zoo to go to the restroom, this is how he came out. Nana said he turned his hat like that all by himself.

He liked the worm.

We had to wait for the girrafes to come out. The zookeeper was cleaning out thier area. Keagan loved feeding them.

One time the girrafe licked him and it scared him a little.

Looking at the snakes.

Playing with cousin Kadin's toys.

Little Cook

The past couple of weeks Keagan has started wanting to help me cook. Today I decided to make a cake so he could help me.

Got the oil!

Pouring it in. (He was so careful!)

Stirring it up.

The mixer was not on so I could take a picture. Before I got the picture taken and my camera put down, he had turned it on by himself. I did let him hold the mixer while it was on while I was helping him.

Best part of cooking-licking the beater.

Yum! Yum!

He was ready to put the icing on as soon as it came out of the oven.

Our Little Dipper

When Keagan is eating, he loves to dip his food. It doesn't matter what he is eating or what he dips it in, he just wants to dip. The other day we were eating lunch and he was dipping his grapes in Thousand Island dressing. Normally he wants ranch dressing or ketchup. This morning he was eating blueberry muffins and was dipping them in his applesauce. The things he eats aren't appealing to us, but as long as he is eating we are happy.
